Will these amp modifications change the sound of my guitar amplifier?

May 06th, 2011 | Category: Resonator Guitars

I have a small Fender Mini Twin Amp. It’s more like a toy than an actual guitar amp but I sometimes bring it to school and other places so I could jam on the spot.

I took out the back cover and took out the battery compartment. Instead of laying snug in the compartment, the 9 volt battery will be loose but theoretically allows for an open back/closed back hybrid tone.

I also took off the back and covered the interior facing side with pennies, which should make the amp louder. My last modification was that I mounted a con-caved porcelain plate in the center of the interior facing back so it could direct the sound forward. All this was inspired by the design of resonator guitars.

How would these modifications change my sound? I can’t really do a side by side comparison so your opinions are highly appreciated.

Are aluminum electric guitars good for anything?

    November 05th, 2010 | Category: Resonator Guitars

They might not be aluminum, but I have seen a few musicians on stage with guitars that look either hollow and metal, or plastic with a chrome covering, and I was just wondering what genres those might be good for?

They weren’t resonator guitars either, they looked like Fender Stratocasters, just made of metal.

If you know what I’m talking about, do you know where I can buy one?
Did you not read the question?
It’s not a dobro. I’ve actuallt seen Satch using one of these.
They aren’t wooden either, they are completely hollow and are either made completely of metal, or plated plastic.

    Resonator Guitar – Republic Style O 14-fret?

    August 29th, 2010 | Category: Resonator Guitars

I’m interested in buying a Republic Style O Resonator guitar. I know resonator guitars as a rule sound much louder and bluesy compared to acoustic or electric guitars, but can you plug such a resonator guitar into an amplifier? Does a Republic Style O have an amp jack, to plug in and use with an amp? Perhaps somebody has one of these guitars and can advise me?
    Thanks ;)
