What is the name to this song?

    August 17th, 2011 | Category: Resonator Guitars

I’m not sure what i was. I saw it on fuse or something. Anyways, the chorus he yells and goes run for your life or something. The music video has like them playing and the guitarist has a resonator guitar, and there is a big screen in the back ground and it has like children in Africa. any help would be appreciated.

can you strum a resonator guitar and play contemporary 'rock' or 'pop' music on it?

      August 09th, 2011 | Category: Resonator Guitars

I’m thinking of buying a resonator guitar (this model: http://hobgoblinmusic.co.uk/local/GR5323_p_Ashbury-AR38-Resonator-Guitar-Page.htm ) but I’ve never played one before, however I love the sound.

The style of music I like to play is kind of rock/pop/folksie stuff. Here’s a link to one of my songs on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrbbOxEWND4

So yeah, I was just wondering if you can play a resonator guitar like a normal guitar (strumming it) cos I’ve only ever seen people finger picking or playing slide on one.

Thanks for reading (and hopefully answering)

      :)

        Resonator Guitar Question?

        August 02nd, 2011 | Category: Resonator Guitars

i want to buy a resonator guitar, but i have a couple questions. i know that they can be played on your lap like a steel guitar, but is it possible to play it like a normal guitar?? and if so, what kind of sound does it make? i already have an accoustic guitar, so would buying one be pointless??

        http://www.fender.com/products/index.php?bodyShape=Resonator&section=acoustics

those are the ones im deciding between^^

        thanks in advance

What is best for playing slide guitar?

          July 19th, 2011 | Category: Resonator Guitars

I play guitar and have several electrics and acoustics. I play metal so of course the action is very low on all of them. I also have bluegrass roots and am interested in playing a slide guitar without altering my acoustics action. I also lay my guitar on my lap and play it. But I want to get something dedicated to slide. So what would you recommend out of the following, or any other suggestions and why?

          1. Resonator guitar (dobro)
          2. Lap steel
          3. A new acoustic and raise the action.

Also, if you say dobro, square neck or round neck and why?
What are brands you suggest for whatever you chose? Do you have links for them.

Would like to stay in 0 – 0 range.

What strings to use on my new Ozark resonator?

                  January 30th, 2011 | Category: Resonator Guitars

Ok well I bought a resonator guitar from a local music shop, put a deposit on it, and I’m picking it up tommorow, as I’ve never owned a resonator guitar before I don’t know what strings to ask for?!

I’ve been playing guitar on a regular acoustic/electric for about 4 years and play almost nothing but Chicago style blues with a bit of jazz in there, so I need strings that’ll allow me to slide (with fingers, not slider) very easily, like normal steel strings (I’m used to gauge 12). But I also want to learn delta style slide guitar (my reason for buying a resonator) so I want strings that are friendly to regular EADGBE blues, give a nice full loud tone, are good for both finger picking and using a pick, and that can also be used well with a slide. However my blues aren’t too bendy so that’s not an issue.

So if you know of some magical strings that match all my criteria please leave a response!

                  Thanks alot, Sam.

what things do I need to consider about painting on metal?

                    January 15th, 2011 | Category: Resonator Guitars

I’m having a local artist do some artwork on my resonator guitar, which is a steel body. Is there anything special that should be done in order to ensure it comes out looking fairly decent? It’s a matte surface, rather than shiny, too.
