How do resonators amplify instruments?
I am building a wooden guitar with fishing line strings. I made a hole in the wood and am trying on different resonators. I want to find out what kind of shape and depth the resonator has to be to ampilify the sound to the maximum. Whenever I put on a resonator(a metal box or a plastic container) the sound gets quieter. I glued on a plastic container, but it is still quiet. What should I do?

Have an old guitar, no names or anything on it besides"John Grey". I’m aware the maker used to make banjos and drums, and apparently some guitars. It is a resonator and has a wooden body. Have a feeling it wouldn’t have been made any time after the early 60′s. any knowledge as to the guitar and it’s year?
