What are some significant and distinct musical instruments?
I have to do this one-hundred twenty project for world history for three marking periods. Each marking period, you have to provide forty examples of a topic you have selected. I chose musical instruments. PLEASE HELP! I can’t find anymore and I’m only at twenty-six for the first marking period. Please suggest ANY musical instrument according to the following: 1)It needs to be a specific instrument. The ‘guitar’ itself has unknown or unspecific origins. ‘Resonator guitar’ is much more helpful. 2) A maximum of two instruments per country (save any more for the next marking periods).
I know that I’ve given guidelines, but I only have ten countries with two instruments. Thanks in advance!

Could I use a guitar strap to make a shoulder strap for a satchel?
I’m making a satchel, and was wondering whether I could use a guitar strap as a shoulder strap for it?
If so, what would be the best way to attach it – sewing? gluing? The bag is made of a cotton material.

I recently bought my first electric guitar, but im having trouble getting it to work?
I’ve never played the guitar before, but really enjoy watching and listening to really good rock music, so I decided to buy one.
I bought the guitar online from eBay and it arrived yesterday. The guitar looks just like the one in the picture, and its definitely electric.
The guitar seems a bit smaller than the ones i’ve seen on TV, but still looks the same shape as the ones i’ve seen before.
Am I right in thinking that electric guitars, because they’re electric, don’t have any strings? Mine has buttons instead, but I can’t seem to get any noise out of it.
please help!
with more reference to the buttons, they’re small and at the top of the long thin bit. they have different colours on them too. there’s also a flappy paddle bit that i’ guessing you should fiddle with to make the music, but try as i may, still no sound

I'm looking for (odd/exotic) stringed instrument insight and advice, help?
Hey all.
I’m brand new to music. I mean brand new, never touched an instrument because most of my life I’ve never had the financial means to obtain one until now… I travel quite a lot so I don’t know if I’ll have time for official lessons with an actual person. I’ll likely pick up books, or watch youtube videos, etc.
Aside from the one time mentioned above I’ve spend about 3 hours at a guitar center playing around with many different instruments, pick, no pick, fingerpicks… these are the ones I like the sound of, and the ones I would like to narrow down to a single definite choice.
I’ve narrowed down the things I’m interested in to a few options. I know I want to play strings. I would prefer plucked (a lot easier without actual lessons I’ve been told)
But I don’t really wanna play a regular ‘ol six stringed guitar. Looking for tips for each of those I’m interested in, and suggestions. There is a special place in my heart for the Lute, as it was the first thing I ever actually played with when a lutinist showed up in my hometown with a Troupe of renaissance reenactors. That being said, I’m open to other things as well. I would love to be able to play at least some of the following; classical songs, renaissance, rock, Irish, and something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtCs2LWOV1c (pretty much anything from LoTR or the FFXI game not sure what that kind of music would be called)

My budget is ~0usd. I have about an hour to two hours worth of patience a day. Would love something that doesn’t have a gigantic learning curve. Less than a year for basic proficiency definitely a huge plus… Another huge plus is being able to self teach.
Oh, another note is that I’m not a fan of picks.. I can’t stand them and much prefer to pluck strings with my fingers. The banjo’s thumb picks aren’t bad though, I can use those.
Would love your insight, and knowledge to assist me in choosing what will be taking up at least 1 hour of my life per day, for the next several years.
I should also add that I’m looking for something I can carry around, and transport with me without too much hassle. The sitar is about the biggest thing I could carry around.
Things I’m wanting to know:
Price Range for a decent quality instrument.
Difficulty to Master
Difficulty to obtain Proficiency
Approximate/Average time to obtain Proficiency
The range of music that can be played on the instrument
Ease of Maintenance (including location of replacement parts/strings)

I remember going to a local music store and seeing les pauls standards for 600$ but i cant remember if they were Epiphones or Gibsons. do they make any 600$ gibsons or not?

Online Electric Guitar Lessons and Buying a Electric Guitar!?
I’m thinking of taking up the electric guitar but I want to do a lot of research before I bring it up with my mom.
Does anyone know of any good online Electric guitar courses I can take? I don’t ,ind paying as long as it reasonable. Also the site has to be able to teach the basics like reading music cause I don’t know how.
Now I know buying guitars online is cheaper and if I did buy online I’d buy from www.guitarcenter.com and would get one of the value packs. Is this wise?
If not there is a musical instruments store I can go to and I know it’d be better but it’d also be more expensive.
If you can’t answer everything that’s fine.
